Frequently Asked Questions

What age or grade is Level B for?

Level B is designed for children who have completed Level A or early readers who are ready to build on foundational skills—typically ages 5–9.

How do I know if my child is ready?

Reading is a developmental milestone, and each child will be ready in their own time. In order to prepare for Level B, your child should be able to do the following:

  • Identify and write all of the capital and lowercase letters of the alphabet

  • Know the most common sounds for each of the letters

  • Begin to decode short C-V-C words

A quick review of each of these concepts will be provided in Level B-Book 1, but if further practice is required, then Level A will be a better place to start. -->Shop Level A here.

Is this curriculum suitable for dyslexia or children with learning challenges?

Absolutely! Level B is multisensory, systematic, and designed to support children who need extra guidance, helping them gain confidence while learning to read.

How do I know this will work for my child?

The Nurturing Connections in Reading curriculum is designed to support all learners—whether your child picks up reading quickly or needs extra support. It uses a brain-based, multisensory approach that has been proven to help children build strong literacy skills in an engaging, approachable way.

Here’s how it works:

  • Engages all learning styles – visual, auditory, and kinesthetic

  • Provides variety – fun exercises and activities that keep the brain actively engaged

  • Includes built-in review – plenty of repetition for strong memory retention

  • Supports diverse learners – including children with special needs and learning challenges

  • Connects skills – phonics, handwriting, and spelling work together for deeper understanding

  • Offers 3 tracks for implementation – giving you flexible options to meet your child’s specific needs and pace

This approach ensures your child isn’t just learning to read—they’re building the confidence, skills, and joy that make reading a lifelong strength.

Will I need to do a lot of prep work?

Not at all! Once all materials have been printed and prepared, implementation is easy, requiring just a couple of minutes each day for set up.

How is faith incorporated into the curriculum?

Faith is gently woven throughout the lessons to help children see reading as more than just a skill—it’s a way to connect with God, family, and meaningful life experiences. Throughout the course, children’s Bible songs are included to cultivate a heart for worship, helping children memorize and write Scripture as they connect joyfully with God’s Word.

Scriptural connections are also provided in the 8 Mini Storybooks, helping children apply what they learn. In Book 3, the Gospel is presented through four Biblical retellings, where children practice new sight words, sequencing, and oral narration while hearing God’s truth in age-appropriate ways.

About the Creator

I’m a former public school educator with years of experience teaching middle school students, many of whom struggled with reading and writing. Helping these children succeed became my mission, and I dedicated myself to learning the most effective strategies for literacy.

After five years in the classroom, I became an ELAR educational specialist for a regional service center in Texas, providing professional development and support for teachers and administrators in grades K–12. I later founded Conceptual Literacy Corp., offering these services more broadly, and worked on curriculum writing projects that impacted thousands of students across over 800 school districts.

Eventually, I transitioned to homeschooling my own children. This world was a complete paradigm shift, and I immersed myself in learning everything I could about faith-based, effective educational strategies. Drawing on both my professional experience and my homeschooling journey, I created Nurturing Connections in Reading—a Biblically-based language arts curriculum centered on proven educational philosophies and strategies.

My hope is to help children not only thrive in reading and writing but also develop critical thinking and confidence, so they can grow into all that God calls them to be. Soli Deo Gloria.
